Message from Dy GM

My dear brethren,
Fraternal greetings,
Bhopal, known as the city of Lakes, has once again been chosen to host the Special Meeting of the Regional Grand Lodge of Western India in the last week of September.
The spirit and enthusiasm of members Bhopal fraternity and their oft-proven capability of holding big meetings has encouraged RW Bro Subhash Saraf, RW the Regional Grand Master, to select this city as the venue of this year’s Special Meeting (Half Yearly meeting) of the Western Region. I am confident that the enthusiasm and positive energies of the brethren of Bhopal under the able chairmanship of VW Bro Girish Wagh and with the guidance of very senior and matured RW Bro JN Chaudhary, will make this event a great success and prove the confidence of their RGM right.
It has been a pleasure for me to have been associated with the Freemasons of Bhopal for more than 8 years now. My professional engagements keep taking me to Bhopal very often – almost once a month. During these visits, after grueling professional work during the days, the evenings are well spent with the masons across the Lodges. Due to their multiple membership their camaraderie is superb. They take Ritual seriously; they enjoy the fellowship like the way it should be after good and meaningful labour. Above all they regularly indulge in Charity work.
I wish the Steering Committee of the Meetings all the success in making this event enjoyable to all coming to attend.
It won’t be surprising that, very soon, the Bhopal Masonic fraternity is given the opportunity to host the Annual Meeting of the Region and also an Annual Festival of the Grand Lodge of India.
The immaculate beauty of the numerous lakes, surrounded by matured green trees and plants, is going to charm the Freemasons from various parts of the country who will converge into the capital of Madhya Pradesh. While the two bigger lakes – Upper Lake (Bhojtal, named after Raja Bhoj, who developed the lake) and Lower Lake (Chhota Talab) invite you to indulge in water sports and cruise, the sheer beauty of the other lakes, which can be seen along various roads of the city, enthrall the visitors.
Its not just the lakes. The city also is a home to various museums (Bhopal Central Museum, Museum of Tribal Art, the Manav Sangrahalaya – Museum of Mankind, the Birla Museum and many more). The famous Bharat Bhawan is a home to world renowned artists and literary figures. While the brethren are coming to Bhopal, I recommend that they should keep some extra days as the city has many places around it which have been enthralling the tourists – Pachmarhi, a hill station; Indore – city of Holkars; Ujjain – the abode of Mahakal; Budhist monuments of Sanchi; Bhimbetka – known for its rock caves exhibiting the earliest traces of human life in Indian sub-continent. The list is long. Welcome to the vibrant city of Bhopal, welcome to the city that is home of very vibrant masonry.

Fraternal regards,
Puneet Sohal.
